ColASL Virtual Meeting on the National Library of Medicine
February 24, 2016
3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The National Library of Medicine (NLM), is the world’s largest biomedical library. NLM maintains and makes available a vast print collection and produces electronic information resources on a wide range of topics that are searched billions of times each year by millions of people around the globe. In this session learn about NLM’s free databases for researching general health, drugs and supplements, genetics, environmental health and toxicology, and clinical trials. These resources may come in handy at work and at home! 


A Colorado native, Dana Abbey has a background in public libraries, holding positions as a librarian, manager, and acting director responsible for strategic planning, development, operating management, new service development, marketing, promotion and leadership.  She has worked in prescription drug monitoring and in library consulting, providing pre-planning studies, collection projections, collection management, and storage and specifications planning for corporate and specialized libraries. In her current position, Dana serves as the Health Information Literacy Coordinator for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, MidContinental region, working to improve the public's access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health.
