CATS 2018 Fall Workshop

CATS Fall Workshop 2018 - Agenda

8-9 = Snacks and Mingle @ Cortez Public Library

9-10 = Tour of Cortez Public Library
10-10:30 = Travel to: City Hall Training Room, 123 Roger Smith Ave., Cortez CO

10:30-11:30 = Supporting Teen Mental Health - Ellie O’Keefe (ellie.okeefe@pueblolibrary.org)
When a teen mental health crisis strikes your community - how can you respond? Pueblo City-County Library District’s Teen Librarian will share how she worked to respond to teen suicides in Pueblo.

11:45 - 12:15 = Let's Talk About...Tough Topic Bags - Jill Wilson (jwilson@telluridelibrary.org)

Have you ever had a parent come into your library looking for advice on books to talk to their kids about tough topics like sex, bullying, divorce, or death? What if you had all of the books together in one place, where they could just grab a bag and be on their way to delving into deep conversations together as a family? In this session you will explore various "Tough Topic Bags", and find out how to bring this resource back to your own library and community.

12:15 - 2:00  = Lunch on your own

2 - 3:30 = Strengthening Community Partnerships - Maggie Tevault (MTevault@pinonproject.org)

Maggie Tevault is the Early Childhood and Youth Programs Coordinator at The Pinon Project, a Family Resource Center serving Montezuma and Dolores Counties. In order to fulfill the center’s mission of “strengthen(ing) our community by providing comprehensive services for children and families”, Pinon Project has formed strong partnerships with local libraries both formally and informally in order to better serve families in our area. We will look at several projects that have thrived over the past several years and demonstrate how libraries and family-serving agencies can work together to provide optimal outcomes for young people.

3:30-4:30 = Networking and idea sharing
